We have now learned something about the background, where people from blogging. But what makes those millions of people? Are there similarities or characteristics that distinguish the blogger?
Here I would like to present the demographic data and abnormalities of bloggers, the results of online-based survey, "How I blog?" (October 2005). The survey was conducted by the Center for Communication, University of Bamberg in the German weblog authors and readers on the Internetprotale "twoday.net" and "blogg.de" and was based on 5246 data sets.
Since this survey, but a combination These e-mail-based invitation and self-recruitment, "added the survey as a whole

The difference between the number of blogging men and women is given, in my view, however, surprisingly low. Sun blog 54.4% men and only 8.8% fewer women. Other research, such as in October 2007 by Martin Weigert showed that of 260,000 German internet users of the English blog AllFaebook.com, 95,000 male and 97,000 were female. But even here it shows it is only a small difference and so blogging seems to be no typical male or female phenomenon.
Least of people will over 50 years of blogging, which is probably also related to, that this generation knows is often not so good with computers and the Internet, or inhibitions has to engage with the media. The result is also reflected in the question of the occupation, and again, because retirees are here too the rear with 1.5%. That the over-50s can not be good with computers and the Internet is of course not for everyone, but the generation of 20 to 29 year olds grew up with computers and the Internet and makes use of the Internet from more. Thus, most bloggers fall with significantly higher 41.8% in this age group. The reason for the under 20 also are represented little more, may well be due to the fact that many children and adolescents of parents computer and Internet use may only temporary.
striking, however, the educational level of the blogger. Well over 2 / 3 of users indicate that they have Secondary School graduation or a (professional) degree. According to the research
Weigert, are of 141 300 65 900 Facebook users single, 50,000 living in a relationship, engaged 4460 and 20 960 married. This result thus speaks for the results of the research center for "New Communication Media". For most people between 20 and 29 are not yet married and thus either single or in a committed relationship.
The average blogger is thus so rather male, late 20s, single, has made his high school diploma or high school and still studying. If long-term students may thus simply requiring notification as professionals? Or they simply get more give so much information that they necessarily want to make them public? Thus, the studies show
that precisely defines our generation, the typical blogger and we wonder why at the beginning just in our conference no one knew quite what a blog is.
